A trip through the Center of Portugal

Coimbra, located on a hill by the Mondego River, is, historically, a student city: the University of Coimbra is one of the oldest in Europe and the largest in Portugal. According to a Fado sung by the students, "Coimbra has more charm by the time you bid her farewell", but you’ll be able to discover it long before that time comes... Join us and get to know the traditions of one of the most emblematic cities of our Country!

Aveiro is known as The Venice of Portugal due to the network of canals that runs through the city and gives it life and through where the colourful "Moliceiros" boats circulate. Going along the sea line, we arrive at Costa Nova, where the traditional colourful striped houses mix with the green of the palm trees and the blue of the ocean, resulting in an unforgettable landscape!

    Suggested Itinerary

    Duration: 9H

Oporto: Our driver and certified guide will pick you up at your Hotel, and the trip will start towards the Center of Portugal, having Coimbra as the first stop.
Coimbra: Coimbra, the City of Students, offers centuries of culture, since its time as Aeminium, city of the Roman Empire. Having once been the capital of the Portuguese kingdom and a meeting place for different cultures, Coimbra is distinguished by its rich historical and architectural value, modern arts and sports infrastructures, green spaces and commercial spaces.

On the other side of the Mondego, we recommend visiting the Monastery of Santa Clara-a-Velha and the Monastery of Santa Clara-a-Nova, built in replacement of the first, which until recently was buried by the Mondego sludge.

Right in the center of the city, you can visit the imponent University of Coimbra, center of Knowledge by excellence and UNESCO World Heritage.

Aveiro: After the visit to Coimbra, we’ll begin our journey towards Aveiro, where we’ll have lunch in one of the many typical restaurants, with fresh and succulent fish so characteristic of this traditionally fishing town.

We will then continue through its center and along the several canals that justify the nickname "Portuguese Venice". In the oldest part, it is still possible to see the original facades of the colourful houses of the old fishermen, as well as a set of Art Nouveau pieces worth appreciating.

We suggest a visit to the Ecomuseum Marinha da Troncalhada, which showcases the methods of artisanal salt production and explores the landscape, the characteristic fauna and flora, keeping alive the experiences and traditions linked to this secular activity.

Oporto: When it is time to leave, we will do it through Costa Nova, for a panoramic view that will awaken your senses. Once in Oporto, we will finish our services in your Hotel.
